Liverpool defeated Leicester City 2-1 on Saturday.

Liverpool overcame Leicester City courtesy of a brace from Mohamed Salah on Saturday, the Egyptian international cancelling out Jamie Vardy’s third-minute opener, but he was not the only Reds player who impressed.
As well as some fine showings at the back, with Joe Gomez and Andrew Robertson particularly impressive, experienced midfielder James Milner also did his bit, providing an assist against the Foxes and leading by example as the skipper on the day.

Liverpool’s win means they are right back in the race to challenge all but runaway leaders Manchester City, and it will be interesting to see how Reds boss Jurgen Klopp approaches the January transfer window having already tied up a deal for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk.
Milner has featured 108 times for Liverpool to date, scoring 14 goals and providing 26 assists in the process and, while he is not every Reds fan’s cup of tea, he can always be relied upon to do a job no matter where he is asked to play.

Next up for Liverpool is a trip to Burnley on New Year’s Day and they could move ahead of third-placed Manchester United if results go their way.
