Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Monday night as they couldn’t hang onto a 1-0 lead against Leeds United.
The Reds made the trip to West Yorkshire under a shadow having confirmed their intention to join the breakaway Super League.
Protests were held outside Elland Road as the Liverpool team bus arrived, with fans clearly outraged by the mere thought of potentially destroying English football as we know it.
Liverpool tried to put that behind them and focus on the game, and did take a first-half lead as Trent Alexander-Arnold picked out Sadio Mane for the opener.
Liverpool couldn’t find a second goal though, and were made to pay as Diego Llorente headed home Jack Harrison’s corner for a late leveller.
It was a particularly emotional night for midfielder James Milner, as he made his return to Elland Road having began his career with hometown club Leeds.

Milner turned in a strong performance on the pitch, and then stepped forward after the full-time whistle to state that he’s against the Super League and hopes it doesn’t happen.
Liverpool fans were already praising his display anyway, hailing him for a ‘sensational’ performance against his former club.
Others noted that Liverpool play better with Milner on the pitch despite his advancing years, branding him ‘brilliant’ and ‘a beast’ having been Liverpool’s best midfielder last night.
