Liverpool finally announced the signing of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate on Friday – and he was in action last night.
Konate had long been expected to join the Reds, and with the deal now done, he was able to focus on the Under-21 European Championships.
Konate lined up alongside Dayot Upamecano in the heart of France’s back four, and captained the side against the Netherlands.
It started well enough for Konate, with Upamecano putting France ahead, but Myron Boadu pounced for a brace to seal a 2-1 win for the Netherlands.
That means Konate will at least have a summer off ahead of pre-season at Liverpool, meaning he will be well-rested when he arrives at Anfield.
Liverpool fans were understandably glued to their screens watching their new signing in action, and they seemed pretty impressed.

Some took to Twitter to suggest that his position is ‘absolutely brilliant’, branding him ‘so so good’ whilst claiming he hadn’t put a foot wrong all game.
Others feel that Konate reminds them of current Liverpool defender Joel Matip, and that’s a compliment rather than a criticism of his game at the moment.
