Despite being on the losing side last night, Liverpool’s Gini Wijnaldum impressed for the Netherlands.

Ronald Koeman’s side lost 3-2 to Germany in Euro 2020 qualifying but the Liverpool midfielder was perhaps his country’s best player.

Wijnaldum, who joined the Reds from Newcastle United in 2016, dazzled in a box-to-box role.

Despite moving to Anfield three years ago, the 28-year-old hadn’t set things alight at Liverpool until arguably this season, though he is still something of an unsung hero.

But here’s how fans of the Merseyside club reacted to his display on Sunday night.

It’ll be interesting to see what becomes of Wijnaldum when Oxlade-Chamberlain returns from injury after the international break.

The Dutchman is a first-team regular in Jurgen Klopp’s side nowadays, but Oxlade-Chamberlain benched him a lot last season and time will tell whether he can keep the former Arsenal ace at bay.
