Liverpool drew a blank against Southampton on Saturday.

Liverpool remained at the top of the Premier League table but saw their lead cut as they could only draw 0-0 with Southampton on Saturday.

The Reds have been in free-scoring form this season but the Saints’ defence has looked solid under Claude Puel and so it proved again as Jurgen Klopp’s men failed to make the breakthrough.

The results means they are now separated from second-placed Manchester City only on goals scored.

Summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum came in to replace the injured Adam Lallana, but the Dutchman was unable to help his side get the victory.

Wijnaldum scored in the 6-1 victory against Watford last time out but that remains his only goal since moving from Newcastle United to Liverpool in a big-money deal.

There is no doubt Klopp has plenty of options in the centre of the park but settling on the right one will be key moving forward.
