Marco Silva’s Everton side lost 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in their last match.
Even Liverpool fans have agreed with Everton boss Marco Silva’s comments that they were ‘lucky’ to win on Sunday.
Liverpool won 1-0 at Anfield at the weekend, with Divock Origi scoring a late winner in the contest.
Origi’s goal was scored in the most bizarre of circumstances, after a huge error from Everton stopper Jordan Pickford.
And Silva was clearly frustrated after the match, saying to Football 365: “It’s a really lucky day for Liverpool because they don’t deserve the win.”
Liverpool fans could have been annoyed by Silva’s comments, but even they were perfectly happy to admit that they had got fortunate.
Everton actually matched Liverpool for much of the contest, and were guilty of missing some big chances.
Andre Gomes, Theo Walcott and Bernard all had presentable opportunities during the match, but failed to take them.
Despite the defeat, Everton’s performance was still encouraging with Silva’s side making big improvements from last season.
Everton are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Newcastle United.
