Liverpool headed into their Premier League match against Crystal Palace knowing they could not give top-four rivals Manchester United a sniff in the battle for Champions League qualification, so Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be fuming that his side let an early lead slip to lose 2-1.

Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring with a sublime free kick but former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke came back to haunt his old employers, scoring in each half to give the Eagles a massive three points and silencing the Anfield faithful in the process.

Klopp had plenty of fire-power on display, with Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi all starting, but Liverpool could not break down a resilient Palace side in the second half.

Origi was making his 39th appearance of the season in all competitions, but the 22-year-old could not add to the 10 goals he has managed thus far.

The young Belgian has now found the net 20 times in 72 matches for Liverpool, but that return will have to improve if he is to win over his doubters.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of Origi’s latest outing and you can read a selection of what we found below:
