Liverpool fans have slammed Dejan Lovren’s performance against Manchester United on Twitter, with some also suggesting that Jurgen Klopp needs to face serious questions for keeping faith with the Croatian.

However, it was United who stole the bragging rights as two early goals from Marcus Rashford meant that Eric Bailly’s comical own goal during the second-half could only set up a nervy finish.

There were a number of players who proved disappointing in the defeat, but one of the Liverpool players who received the most criticism on social media was Lovren.

The £20 million signing (via BBC Sport) had questions to answer after both of the home side’s goals as he came out second best in both of the battles with Romelu Lukaku that preceded the two strikes from Rashford.

Many fans feel that it was another performance that confirmed that Lovren is not good enough to play for a side that holds aspirations of winning the league title. And because it was not the first time that the 28-year-old has been disappointing, there has also been plenty of criticism for Klopp – with one fan even suggesting that he should face questions about his own future for sticking by the centre-back.
