Liverpool stormed to an emphatic 3-0 win away at Watford to keep the pressure on the current Premier League leaders.
It is no secret that Dejan Lovren has not had the easiest time since joining Liverpool. The centre-back has, often understandably, come in for a lot of criticism during his time at Anfield.
And with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk forming a brilliant partnership this term, Lovren probably cannot afford to put in another disappointing display.
But judging by much of the reaction on Twitter to his performance in the Reds’ win away at Watford on Saturday, it appears that Lovren is rising to the challenge of trying to give Jurgen Klopp a decision to make at the heart of the defence.
The Croatia international was making his first Liverpool appearance in almost a month at Vicarage Road. And after a slightly slow start, he grew into the game and looked extremely impressive.
The £20 million signing (via BBC Sport) made a couple of important challenges and interceptions to help ensure that Liverpool were able to storm to the win with three second-half goals.
Some supporters are seemingly never going to be won over by Lovren, but it appears that most were extremely impressed by his performance against the Hornets.
There are plenty who believe that he does not get the credit that he deserves given the improvements that he has made, and one fan even suggested that he is as good as Gomez currently.
