Liverpool ended the summer transfer window without a new forward signed, but fans are now calling for a move for Daniel Sturridge.

The Reds landed just one major first-team addition this summer with defender Ibrahima Konate arriving from RB Leipzig early in the window.

Some assumed that Liverpool would be signing another attacker given that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will be off to the Africa Cup of Nations in the middle of this season.

That will leave Jurgen Klopp a little short of attacking options, but still no signing was made.

On Wednesday, former Reds striker Daniel Sturridge took to Twitter in order to celebrate his birthday and thank fans for their support during his time at Liverpool.

Unsurprisingly, a number of Liverpool fans ended up replying by telling him to get back to Anfield for another go under Jurgen Klopp.

Sturridge is a free agent after leaving Trabzonspor, and the 32-year-old may fancy coming back to England.

Some told Sturridge, who scored 67 goals in 160 games for Liverpool, to get on the phone to Klopp and ask to at least join training ahead of signing.

Others believe that Sturridge would thrive with Liverpool’s current attackers and would be more of a goal threat than Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino.

There were even calls for Sturridge to have a Michael Jordan-style ‘last dance’ at Liverpool as there must be a more exciting end to his time at Liverpool.
