David Luiz believes that Unai Emery’s Arsenal can challenge Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool for the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to David Luiz’s comments that Arsenal can challenge the Reds this season.
The former Chelsea central defender believes that the Gunners can win the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool are at the top of the league table at the moment, with defending champions Manchester City trying to catch them.
The Gunners are also doing well, but the North London outfit are expected to fight for a place in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
Luiz told NBC Sports when asked if Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season: “The ambition has to be there, the dream has to be there. Also, you have to be humble and have the humility to understand how you can achieve this kind of thing.
“This is what you have to do every single day. To understand the plan, to work hard and understand that if you have the opportunity you have to give your best. After that, if you don’t achieve you have to understand why you didn’t achieve these kind of goals.
“But my vision, my ambition and my will is always to fight for the title. And between the club, the players and the coach, we have the possibility to fight for the title.”

Arsenal have a very potent attacking unit, but defensively the Gunners are far from great, and it is hard to see Unai Emery’s side launch a title challenge this season.
While it is admirable that Luiz – who joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window and is valued at €20 million (£17.2m) by the CIES Football Observatory – has lofty ambitions, the Brazil international – who can also operate as a defensive midfielder – has to be realistic and admit that at this point in time, the North London outfit are not as good as Liverpool or City.
