Liverpool fans took aim at Alberto Moreno……again.
Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to criticise Alberto Moreno.
The Reds drew 1-1 at Newcastle United on Sunday for a disappointing result which leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side seven points adrift of co-leaders Manchester United and Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League table.
Not many Liverpool players – with the exception of perhaps Philippe Coutinho, who opened the scoring in fine fashion – covered themselves in glory.
Georginio Wijnaldum was largely ineffective in midfield. Daniel Sturridge was nowhere near clinical enough up front. And Sadio Mane was nowhere near his electric best for the Anfield club.
But Liverpool supporters have also singled out Moreno for some criticism.
The Spanish defender made headlines even before the game started by telling his critics to ‘shut their mouths’ but he hardly gave people a reason to speak about him in a positive light with another questionable performance.
Going forward, Moreno is an asset but defensively he is often found wanting and Liverpool fans were quick to criticise him again on Sunday.
