Liverpool supporters on Twitter have shared their thoughts on Twitter after Adam Bogdan claimed that during training Lazar Markovic was a ‘genius’.

Winger Markovic moved to Liverpool in 2014 when the club paid Benfica £20 million for his services [BBC Sport], but despite being highly touted, he failed to live up to the billings.

Whilst Markovic wasn’t able to showcase his true worth during game day, goalkeeper Bogdan, who would have seen him train, week in and week out, shared that he was a ‘genius’ on the training pitch, as quoted by the Echo.

Some sections of the Liverpool supporters have seen the funny side to Bogdan comments, whilst others feel that the winger might have been better suited to Futsal.

In the end, it didn’t work out for Markovic, who spent a number of seasons on-loan at other clubs before he returned to England’s top-flight last season.

Fulham snapped up his services in January as they tried to stop their instant relegation back to the Championship, but despite arriving on a free-transfer, Markovic was hardly-seen as the London club went straight back down.

The 25-year-old is now plying his trade for Partizan – that’s where Markovic’s career started before he moved to Benfica, where he made a name for himself and then Liverpool came calling.

Nonetheless, the fact that Markovic has struggled to make a name for himself in Europe since struggling at Liverpool suggests that it was a prime example of how a highly-rated player can just fall off the radar.
