Liverpool fans are disappointed to see Yan Dhanda sold to Swansea City.

Up & Coming Award winner Yan Dhanda poses during the Second Annual Asian Football Awards at Wembley Stadium on October 8, 2013 in London, England.

Yan Dhanda has taken the next step in his career, leaving Liverpool to sign with Swansea City.

Liverpool snapped up Dhanda from West Bromwich Albion in 2013 and has spent the last five years in the club’s academy.

He has made solid progress but was not in line for a first team call, and instead of prolonging Dhanda’s situation by loaning him out, the Reds have cut the cord and sanctioned his sale.

For Dhanda, 19, it is a good move, joining a club with a track record of developing young talent, recently with Oli McBurnie.

Their drop down to the Championship also means there will be a shake up on the playing side, and Dhanda could flourish and take advantage of the opportunities which may come his way.

From a Liverpool perspective, Dhanda’s failure to break through is a disappointment to those who had been tracking his progress, but the standard required to get into the first team in attacking positions is higher than ever.

Dhanda’s Indian heritage also meant that the Reds’ huge fanbase in the country were particularly hopeful he could one day represent the Liverpool first team.

Now he will have to hope his performances are so strong at Swansea City that he makes Jurgen Klopp regret his sale and perhaps one day, the path will lead back to Anfield.

Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter to his departure…
