Some Liverpool supporters on Twitter are loving Virgil van Dijk’s reaction to Cody Gakpo’s stunner in the World Cup this evening.
Gakpo fired the Netherlands into a 1-0 half-time lead against Ecuador within five minutes of kick off.
When celebrating the goal, the Liverpool powerhouse looks to have performed something of a kung-fu kick before embracing his Netherlands teammates in the huddle.
And some fans of the Anfield outfit believe that it is a nod to Roberto Firmino, whose trademark celebration for the Reds is a similar gesture.
Here’s what Liverpool fans are saying on Twitter:

Other neutral supporters questioned the link between Van Dijk’s reaction and Firmino’s famous goal celebration.
However, this isn’t the first time that the £75 million powerhouse has reacted like this to a goal, having done the same even in Liverpool colours.
And with Firmino inexplicably passed over for a World Cup spot in the Brazil squad, perhaps it’s a simple homage to his long-time pal on Merseyside.
