Liverpool have sold Tiago Ilori to Reading.
Liverpool announced this morning that centre-back Tiago Ilori has completed his permanent move away from the club.
Ilori joins Jaap Stam’s Reading, who are currently in the Championship play-off places and hoping to mount a promotion challenge.
Former Portugal under-21 ace Ilori was signed from Sporting Lisbon by ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers in 2013, but never really had a run in the side.
Ilori went out on a succession of loan deals, playing in Spain and France, as well as an unsuccessful spell at Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa last season, where he struggled to win a first team place.
In the mean time Ilori has had to make do with playing under-23 football, after also being cast aside by Jurgen Klopp, but remains a player with promise.

The centre-back helped shut out Harry Kane in the 2015 under-21 European Championships, as Portugal kept a clean sheet against England.
Liverpool have at least freed up a small amount of money plus wages, and potentially there will be more available to put towards the signings of new additions.
