Liverpool supporters on Twitter have expressed their delight to reported transfer news that Divock Origi is happy to stay at the club.

ESPN have reported that Liverpool will not sell their Champions League hero this summer and the Belgium international wants to stay on Merseyside.

It is said that the Reds are prepared to lose their back-up striker on a free next summer, with his current deal at Anfield due to expire next summer.

For most parts of the season, Origi has played second fiddle to the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah.

However, when he was called upon during the recently concluded campaign, mainly from the bench, he delieved the goods.

Origi’s late goal against Everton in the Premier League, and the most important, his goals against the likes of Barcelona and Tottenham in the Champions League will be remembered for a long, long time by the fans.

There’s no doubt that Jurgen Klopp will want to strengthen his squad for next season as he aims to win the Premier League title.

The bench is an area of concern for the German, with Origi, and at times Xherdan Shaqiri, the only ones making some attacking difference from the bench.
