Liverpool supporters on Twitter believe that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been rattled after he joked that his rivals are already ‘champions’.

City suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat at Norwich City over the weekend, which meant that Liverpool, who had picked up maximum points against Newcastle, are now top of the Premier League table by five points.

It was City’s first defeat of the new season and their first league defeat since January, but along with the result, it was Guardiola’s sarcastic comments after the game which also drew the attention, as reported by the Guardian.

Liverpool supporters questioned why Guardiola always needs to mention them in his press conferences, as some believe that they are in his head ‘rent free’.

Whilst there is still a long way to go, Man City’s defeat, their defensive problems and lack of defensive cover could prove to a problem in the long run.

Aymeric Laporte is facing a long spell on the sidelines, whilst Guardiola can’t now call upon a Vincent Kompany because he’s no longer at the club.

It remains to be seen whether this will continue to be a problem for the Premier League champions, who may have to come back and prove their worth once again if they are to retain the title.

But Guardiola’s comments from the weekend have drawn attention, but it’ll only add more drama to the current rivalry between the two clubs.
