Liverpool talent has undergone knee surgery.

Young Liverpool striker Paul Glatzel has suffered a serious ACL injury.

The Reds confirmed on the club’s official website that Glatzel has undergone surgery.

Glatzel suffered the injury earlier this month in a friendly against Tranmere.

He was able to walk off the pitch, so to learn of the severity of the injury came as a nasty surprise to Reds fans.

Glatzel was one of the heroes of Liverpool’s FA Youth Cup winning campaign last season, striking up a dangerous partnership with Bobby Duncan.

He entered this season with high hopes, and it’s now unlikely he will play at all.

Glatzel is the second Liverpool player to suffer an ACL injury in pre-season, with Nathaniel Clyne also out.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has said Glatzel will be able to undergo his rehabilitation with the first team at Melwood.
