The Reds midfielder is nearing a return to training, Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jurgen Klopp’s update on the fitness of Naby Keita, as reported by the Reds website and their social media channels.
The midfielder, who has made one appearance this season (Transfermarkt), sustained a hip injury ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea in Istanbul last month and has missed the Reds’ last three matches.
Although Keita is set to sit out the upcoming fixtures with Newcastle United and Napoli, Klopp expects the £54million signing from RB Leipzig (Transfermarkt) back for training following the Champions League trip to Italy.
In his pre-match press conference, Klopp first provided an update on Alisson Becker’s calf injury – “the target was always after the next international break he could be ready, but we don’t know” – before moving onto Keita.
“Naby is close, much closer than Alli,” the German is quoted by the official Liverpool website as saying about the 24-year-old. “I think he could be in training when we come back from Napoli next week.”
Here is what some Liverpool fans said on social media regarding the update:
Keita, a Guinea international, joined Liverpool in the summer of 2018 from RB Leipzig, a year after agreeing the deal, on a contract believed to be worth £120,000-per-week (Spotrac), until the summer of 2023.
