Martin Skrtel had a nightmare start to Euro 2016 against Wales, but such is England’s luck, they found the centre-back in inspired form last night.
The Liverpool defender produced an excellent display to keep club teammate Daniel Sturridge quiet, also shutting out Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.

The 31-year-old centre-back was key to Slovakia keeping a clean sheet, excelling particularly late on when England increased the pressure.
He made five clearances, as well as making two tackles and winning two interceptions, while managing to block five goalbound shots.

Skrtel lost his place in the Liverpool side under Jurgen Klopp last season and is expected to be moved on this summer, with SkySports reporting Fenerbahce are keen.
If he wants to stay at Anfield, Skrtel should get a copy of last night’s game and make sure Klopp watches it.
