Liverpool have one foot in the Champions League semi-finals after recording a 3-0 win against Manchester City at Anfield on Wednesday, courtesy of first-half goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane.

Said foot is perhaps not as firmly embedded as it might have been, however, had Jordan Henderson not picked up a one game suspension – following a foul on former Reds colleague Raheem Sterling – and Salah not been forced off injured.

Even so, it’s hard not to be positive about Liverpool’s showing against the runaway Premier League leaders, who failed to register a shot on target for the first time in 18 months.

Had a judging panel been present, it’s unlikely that any Reds players would have received a performance score of less than eight.
