The Spanish defender did not impress against Bolton in the FA Cup.
Liverpool toiled to a 0-0 draw with Championship side Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, meaning they will now face The Trotters in a replay at the Macron Stadium.
In the end they found themselves thwarted regularly by the excellent Adam Bogdan in the Bolton Wanderers goal. But they did not help themselves. Several chances should have been put away, none more so than a miss from Javier Manquillo.
The Spanish defender struggled to find his best form in the game and the miss was certainly indicative of his performance.
It was his first game since the FA Cup tie with AFC Wimbledon earlier this month and it would be fair to say he has fallen down the pecking order after what was a promising start to his Liverpool career.
But it was not just his mediocre performance that had the Liverpool fans up in arms.
After the game he appeared to take to Instagram to say that the 0-0 draw was a ‘good job’ from the team, which did not go down well with fans who rightly expected their team to defeat Bolton at Anfield. However, Manquillo does not have an Instagram account so this criticism is slightly harsh.
