The 31-year-old, who can operate as a midfielder, winger or left-back, did not start the match, but the Englishman came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute and slotted in at left-back in place of Alberto Moreno.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were 3-0 up after just 30 minutes, but Sevilla staged a comeback in the second half and scored thrice to make it 3-3.
Roberto Firmino scored twice and Sadio Mane found the net once for Liverpool, while Wissam Ben Yedder netted a brace and Guido Pizarro bagged one for the home team.
The result means that the Reds are at the top of Group E with nine points from five matches, a point clear of second-placed Sevilla.
