Last night saw Stoke City face Manchester United, and it was a busy evening for away goalkeeper Jack Butland, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Daily Star reported at the weekend that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is considering a summer move for Butland.

Stoke’s current predicament means Butland could be a Championship player by then, becoming cheaper and easier to sign.

Last night Butland was at the wrong end of a 3-0 loss against United, although there was little he could do to stop spectacular efforts from Antonio Valencia and Anthony Martial, and he stopped the score being far higher.

The third from Romelu Lukaku saw him beaten at his near post, not what Liverpool fans would have wanted to see as they consider whether the Englishman is an upgrade on their current options.
