Everton have proposed a capacity of 52,000 for their new stadium and some Liverpool supporters have taken to Twitter to mock their neighbours.

The blue half of Merseyside announced on their official website on Thursday that the proposed 52,000 seats could rise to 62,000 in the near future.

Goodison Park currently holds under 40,000 supporters for the Premier League giants as they are hoping their new stadium at Bramley Moore Docks will be ready by the 2023/24 season, according to BBC Sport.

A number of clubs have either moved stadiums or increased their capacity in recent years, including Liverpool, Manchester City and West Ham, who moved into the Olympic Stadium in 2016.

The Toffees, who appointed Marco Silva as their new manager in the summer, are currently sitting in the top-eight in the Premier League table ahead of their clash against Tottenham on Sunday.

Even though it is a fair distance away, the club’s supporters will be hoping that their team is either challenging for Europe or in a European competition by the time they move into their new stadium.

On social media, one Liverpool supporter stated the club’s new stadium will be ‘half empty’ while another claimed that they can put their proposed 52,000 seater stadium into their trophy cabinet.
