Everton confirmed the worst kept secret in football yesterday as they appointed Marco Silva as manager.
The former Watford and Hull City boss is taking his third management role in England in 18 months and hopes to have some longevity at Goodison Park.
The pressure is on after a disappointing season for Everton, which nearly culminated with rivals Liverpool winning the Champions League.
The Reds have enjoyed a long run of superiority over the Toffees and are not particularly worried by Silva’s appointment.

The Hornets later sacked him months later but Everton had to wait to get their man.
Silva must prove he was worth the wait, and managing to get close to rivals Liverpool in his first season would be defined as an initial success.
