Germany’s Emre Can reacts
Emre Can was handed his first start of Euro 2016 for Germany in last night’s semi-final against France – and is heading home already.
The Liverpool midfielder was on the losing side after the hosts ran out 2-0 winners, through a double from Antoine Griezmann.

Can played just over an hour before being replaced, and did well despite the disappointing result.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star completed 81 per cent of his passes and created one chance, also landing his only shot on target.
It was a big ask for him to keep pace with the likes of Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi, having not featured all tournament prior to the game, and he was also booked for his efforts.

France were 1-0 up when he was withdrawn for Mario Gotze, a tactical switch which did not pay off for Germany, with Didier Deschamps side going on to add a second.
Can will now have a short break before joining up with his Liverpool teammates in mid to late July, and will be desperate to win a starting spot in the team ahead of their opening Premier League clash with Arsenal.
