A fantastic season for Emre Can looks like ending on a sour note for the Liverpool ace.

Can has been left out of Germany’s provisional World Cup squad, the German football federation announced yesterday.

This would have been Can’s first World Cup. He had played 35 games in all competitions for Liverpool this season before getting injured.

The Liverpool star has helped the Reds reach the Champions League final this season and he is fighting an uphill battle to make the decisive match with Real Madrid.

Can’s future at Liverpool is in doubt because he has let his contract run down amid strong interest from Juventus.

While this has drawn the ire of many Liverpool fans, supporters have been sympathetic to his international misfortune.
