Emre Can quit Liverpool on a free transfer a year ago to take up a new challenge at Juventus.
That move has now turned sour after Juventus left him out of their squad for the Champions League group stages, the club announced.
This is a crushing blow for the German, who had designs on becoming a key player for Juventus.
Moves this summer for Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot knocked him down the pecking order and he has not been able to win over new boss Maurizio Sarri.
Can was a substitute in Juventus’ weekend Serie A win over Napoli.
He did play a role in Juventus winning the Serie A title last season, making 20 starts.
Only for a couple of weeks did this justify his decision to leave Liverpool, before the Reds went one better and won the Champions League.
Now Can is not even getting the opportunity to match them.
Like Coutinho’s struggles since leaving Liverpool, Can might be questioning his decision to leave.
