Liverpool defender is on course to feature at the World Cup next summer.

Under fire Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is in line to feature at World Cup 2018 after his Croatia side earned a big result in their play-off match.
Croatia beat Greece 4-1 in the first leg, holding a healthy advantage ahead of next week’s return match.
The one slither of hope for Greece is the away goal, predictably scored from a set piece for which Lovren failed to cover himself in glory.

It was a similar story to much of his Liverpool defending experience lately, and it would not be a surprise if his confidence remains low.
Lovren was humiliatingly substituted after just half an hour against Tottenham Hotspur last month in a 4-1 defeat after a woeful start to the game.

Even with a moment of poor defending, Croatia were too good for Greece last night and should have enough to avoid calamity in the second leg.
Lovren is on course to feature at the World Cup next summer, although he will have to lift his game before a possible encounter with Lionel Messi.
Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter to Lovren’s performance…
