Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge found the net for England on Saturday night.

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge was on the scoresheet last night as England beat Malta 2-0 at Wembley.
The Reds striker opened the scoring on 28 minutes with a well-guided header, before Dele Alli doubled the lead shortly before the break.
The victory was England’s second successive win in World Cup qualifying, but their first under Gareth Southgate, who has at least three matches left after being given four games to impress as Three Lions boss.

It was not an exceptional performance, and some would have been hoping for more goals, but they still picked up the three points which puts them top of Group F.
Sturridge scoring may represent good news for Liverpool fans, given that the 26-year-old has struggled for game time under Jurgen Klopp this season.

But a confident Sturridge is a very dangerous one, and the ex-Chelsea and Manchester City striker might return to Anfield a more confident forward as a result.
There was also good news for Liverpool fans in the form of Jordan Henderson, who set up Sturridge’s header and also bagged an assist for Alli’s goal.

Sturridge has not scored a Premier League goal for Liverpool this season, but only three of his six appearances came from the start. Still, he could, and should, be doing a lot better than he is at the moment.
