After coming close with Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers has won the first major trophy of his career with Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers has accomplished already at Celtic what he failed to do at Liverpool – win a major trophy.
Rodgers was appointed in May, and has taken just a matter of months to lift his first piece of silverware in Glasgow, and it is likely to be the first of many.

Celtic won Sunday’s BetFred Cup Final 3-0 against Aberdeen, following on from a 1-0 win over Rangers in the semi-final last month.
Rodgers had a taste of silverware at Swansea City when he led the Welsh side to winning the play-off final in 2011.
This eventually led to his appointment at Liverpool a season later, and at the Reds he really came close to winning the Premier League title in 2013/14, topping the table with three games to go before a late collapse allowed Manchester City to steal it.

15 months later he was fired by Liverpool, and while the Reds have moved on under new boss Jurgen Klopp, just one point off the top of the table, Rodgers’ near miss is as close as they have come since Rafa Benitez in 2009.
While the conclusion of the Scottish Premiership is months away, for many it is a foregone issue already.
Celtic will have to wait to seal the title, but they are eight points clear of second placed Rangers already, with two games ij hand. It would take a staggering collapse for them to blow it.
