Liverpool have completed a deal to sign Colombian youth international Anderson Arroyo, SkySports report.

Arroyo, 18, signs from Fortaleza in his homeland, but he will not be joining the Reds right away.

He does not qualify for a work permit and as a result, Liverpool have sent him on loan to Real Mallorca for 18 months.

The deal and loan was all agreed in January, but all the necessary paperwork has now been filed and the Reds announced the signing on Tuesday.

The Reds have one of the best academies in England and continue to scour the globe for top talent.

He follows Brazilian prospect Allan in joining from South America. Liverpool fans will hope Arroyo has a quicker path to the first team.

Allan is now 20 and is on his fourth loan deal away from Liverpool. He is currently in Cyprus with Limassol, following spells in Finland, Belgium and Germany.

Arroyo is a full-back and made his senior debut in Colombia at just 15.

The deal could turn out to be a swing and miss, but if he manages to eventually work his way into Liverpool’s first team, this move will look inspired.

Liverpool fans were starved of signings in January despite receiving £142 million for Coutinho.

Arroyo is a nice surprise, but he does not make up for the underwhelming recruitment last month.
