Adam Lallana came off the bench for Liverpool.
Liverpool maintained their successful start to the season with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The Reds brought Adam Lallana off the bench late on, as a replacement for the excellent Naby Keita.
Lallana proceeded to infuriate fans by giving away a late free kick in a dangerous area, and looked off the pace.
Fortunately for Liverpool, they were able to nullify Palace’s final attack and hit back themselves on the counter, with Sadio Mane scoring a blistering breakaway goal.
It was a moment which played to Mane’s strength, but Liverpool would rather have not been in the position of having to defend a 1-0 lead and opposing set piece in injury time.
Lallana had a wasted year last season after struggling with injury and has looked poor when given chances.
He needs to play games to build up his fitness, but he also needs to show more when he is given opportunities.
Fans are not convinced that Lallana is the same player the club paid £25 million to sign him four years ago.
