Liverpool football club will mark their 125th as an official football club on their new kits for the coming 2017/18 season.

The club will celebrate its official birthday on June 3, when it was officially recognised by the Board of Trade in 1892.

It was formed after an argument between the Everton board and John Houlding, who broke away from Everton following the dispute and formed Liverpool FC.

The Reds have been one of the most successful clubs in English football ever since, having won 18 league titles, seven FA Cups, eight League Cups and 15 Community Shields.

They won their first league title in 1901, only eight years after joining the Football League and under the guidance of former Sunderland manager Tom Watson.

Watson became the first manager in Football League history to win the league championship with two different clubs, having won it with Sunderland on three occassions in his six year spell with the club.

Liverpool are also one of the most successful clubs in European competitions, having won the European Cup four times between 1977 and 1984, with Italian side AC Milan and Spanish giants Real Madrid the only clubs to have won Europe’s top competition more times.

The Reds last triumph came in 2005 under the management of Rafael Benitez, where they famously came from behind to draw 3-3 with AC Milan, eventually beating them on penalties.

Liverpool’s new kits will feature an anniversary edition crest, and fans have been reacting to the first-look at these new kits on Twitter.
