A disastrous game for Liverpool’s under-23 side.

Liverpool sent out two experienced players last night to star for their under-23 side and get their match fitness up – and will this morning be wishing they had not bothered.
The Reds took on Tottenham’s under-23 side at Stevenage, and included Danny Ings and Adam Lallana in their starting line up.
Both players have struggled with injuries and are hoping to get their match sharpness up so they can start pushing for first team action.
It did not go well.
Adam Lallana was set off for grabbing Tottenham youngster George Marsh round the throat, minutes after Danny Ings had limped off with injury.

Lallana will is fortunate that he will not receive a first team suspension and is still eligible to play against former club Southampton this weekend.
The extent of Ings’ injury is yet to be determined, but his failure to last 90 minutes is not a good sign.
Liverpool could be left relying on Ings as their most senior striker if Roberto Firmino gets injured, and it should be noted that alternative option Dominic Solanke started last night and failed to score in their 1-0 defeat.
Lallana was hailed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as reason for not buying a replacement for Phillippe Coutinho.
It was a risky strategy from the Reds boss which looks even more suspect now.
