Liverpool’s pursuit of Lyon star Nabil Fekir may not be over just yet.

Liverpool’s hopes of signing Lyon forward Nabil Fekir appeared to have ended earlier this month, but Jurgen Klopp has now been given new hope of a deal.

The Reds have already tied up one summer signing in Monaco midfielder Fabinho, but they have been looking to secure another Ligue 1 star in Lyon’s Fekir.

A versatile, creative forward who can play anywhere across the front line or behind a striker, Fekir hit 23 goals in all competitions last season as he starred for his hometown club.

Just as now Arsenal-striker Alexandre Lacazette earned a Premier League move last summer off the back of his Lyon exploits, it seemed that Fekir would be heading to England too.

As reported by The Telegraph earlier this month, Liverpool were poised to sign Fekir in a £53million move, but Lyon cancelled the deal, with suggestions that the Reds attempted to negotiate a lower price after an issue in the player’s medical.

Fekir is now in Russia with the France squad at the World Cup, and whilst many have felt that a move to Anfield would be completely dead, manager Klopp may just have some renewed hope.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Fekir’s agent Jean-Pierre Bernes has suggested that the story ‘is not over’, hinting that the Reds may still have a shot at signing the 24-year-old yet.

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to the comments, with some clearly bored with the continued rumours and others excited that Fekir could finally be heading to Anfield after all, with some even suggesting that Fekir may actually already be a Liverpool player, and Lyon just don’t want to announce the deal before the end of the month…
