Adam Lallana had been called up to the England squad, but the Liverpool midfielder will not feature in the country’s upcoming games.
A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that the club confirmed on their official website on Tuesday that Adam Lallana has returned from international duty after sustaining a groin injury.
Lallana was a surprise inclusion in the England squad for their upcoming games with Spain and Switzerland. The midfielder missed the majority of last season due to injury and was not in contention for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
Liverpool have made a flawless start to the new Premier League season. But, again, Jurgen Klopp’s men have hardly had to call on Lallana, with the former Southampton man playing for just three minutes in the top flight this term.
He will not however, get to add to that game-time in the coming days as the Reds have confirmed on their official website that he is returning to Anfield after withdrawing from the England squad.
The news that he will not be involved for the two internationals has left a lot of Liverpool fans feeling extremely frustrated. They feel that the update is another indication that the club must sell the attacker at the next opportunity.
He appears to have become injury-prone in many supporters’ eyes and they cannot see how Klopp can have any confidence in regards to relying on him to stay fit during the coming months. And they want the Reds to look for a replacement for him in January.
