Liverpool winger Ryan Kent was not included as part of Jurgen Klopp’s 29-man squad for a training camp in Evian, France this week, the club announced on Monday.

Although plenty of other fringe players were named there was no room for Kent, with the official reason being an illness that also kept him out of Sunday’s friendly against Napoli.

Jurgen Klopp spoke about the player’s future after the defeat in Edinburgh, stating to the BBC that due to his age he won’t be spending any more time out on loan, potentially killing off Rangers’ chances of bringing him back to Ibrox.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful spell in Glasgow last term, making 43 appearances, scoring six goals and assisting ten more.

He also won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award, voted on by his peers, which has been won by stars such as Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney in the past.

Liverpool haven’t been very active in the transfer market, but could Kent really make appearances in a team that boasts attacking talent such as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah?

Despite being involved in friendlies against Borussia Dormund, Sevilla and Sporting in the USA this summer, it’s hard to see where he fits in at Anfield and an exit now looks likely.

Some Liverpool supporters aren’t buying the official reason for his Evian absence, believing it’s a sign he’s on his way out of the door soon.
