Liverpool may be in the market for another attacker this summer, thought the global pandemic will hit their spending plans.

There’s unlikely to be a move for Kylian Mbappe any time soon, whilst a deal for Timo Werner even looks to be in the balance as Liverpool adjust their spending plans.

Another name that looks unlikely is Nicolo Zaniolo – even with new rumours. Il Tempo report that Liverpool wanted Zaniolo before the pandemic, with an €80million (£71.5million) price tag on his head.

Liverpool appear to be backing away. He is described as not being a priority for Jurgen Klopp now, even with Roma needing to sell to raise funds.

Liverpool have history with Roma; they signed Alisson and Mohamed Salah from the Italian giants, whilst Roma owner James Pallotta is friends with Liverpool’s FSG ownership.

That may help if Liverpool do make a move, though with Zaniolo out with a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury, the Reds may just keep him on the radar for the future.

The 20-year-old has really emerged with Roma. After joining from Inter Milan, Zaniolo has notched 12 goals and five assists in 60 games for Roma.

Capable of playing as a number 10 or in from the right flank, Zaniolo could bring versatility to Liverpool. Now, fans are reacting to the rumours.

Some think he is a ‘top quality baller’ and a ‘big talent’, noting that he would be the ideal replacement for Adam Lallana.

Others think Zaniolo would be ‘amazing’, but can’t see a deal right now…
