Hungary pulled off a superb result to draw 1-1 with France on Saturday afternoon – and they had ex-Liverpool stopper Peter Gulacsi to thank.
Marco Rossi’s side took the lead against the run of play in the first half, with defender Atilla Fiola burying a shot past Hugo Lloris.
Antoine Griezmann levelled it up for France, but Hungary stood firm and to pick up a point in a fine performance against the world champions.
Gulacsi frustrates France
RB Leipzig goalkeeper Gulacsi may be familiar to some English fans having been with Liverpool, Hereford United, Tranmere Rovers and Hull City.
France found him in inspired form today, as he first made a double save from Karim Benzema and Griezmann, before producing an outstanding stop to deny Kylian Mbappe.
Paul Pogba saw a cross beaten away by Gulacsi, and as he passionately celebrated the draw, he can certainly feel that he earned the point.

Liverpool fans rave about Gulacsi
Liverpool fans have been taking to Twitter to react to Gulacsi’s display, raving about the progress the Hungarian has made.
Now 31, Gulacsi was axed by Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers in 2013, but has ended up becoming a star in Austria, Germany and now Euro 2020.
Liverpool fans suggested that Gulacsi’s development has been ‘crazy’ and he is now ‘fantastic’ having simply been left in the reserves at Liverpool.
Others even want Gulacsi back at Liverpool to challenge Alisson, with huge praise coming in for the stopper.
