Surely Arsenal would not entertain letting Olivier Giroud join Liverpool?

Liverpool’s decision not to go for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been pretty perplexing as the striker appears set to join Arsenal [via Telegraph].
But could the Reds still end up profiting from the situation?

Giroud has his eye on a World Cup spot with France, and Aubameyang’s arrival will limit his opportunities further.
Liverpool fans are hoping he can help solve their own striking dilemma, with a lack of options behind Roberto Firmino.
Supporters have been calling on social media for Liverpool to make an offer for Giroud, after they decided to loan out Daniel Sturridge, leaving only Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke as back-ups for Firmino.

Giroud would be eligible for the Champions League as he has only played Europa League football this season, and he would certainly have a point to prove.
Unfortunately for the Reds, it would take a real own goal on Arsenal’s part to consider letting Giroud join them.
Arsenal are already behind Liverpool in the race for a top four place, although they will fancy their chances with Aubameyang arriving. Letting Giroud go to Anfield would be giving the enemy a lifeline.
With Chelsea reportedly keen, Arsenal could consider Liverpool the better of the two options, but despite the desire of fans, this is one move which would be a major surprise if it went through.
