Southampton defender Matt Targett is reportedly attracting interest from Champions League winners Liverpool.

Liverpool supporters on Twitter have provided a mixed reaction to reports linking them with Southampton defender Matt Targett.
90min have reported that Liverpool are keen to add some cover at left-back for first-team star Andrew Robertson and Targett is the man on their list.
It has become a bit of a theme now. Southampton have a player, whether he has come through their ranks or someone who they have spotted from another European league, he performs and Liverpool come calling.
It not too dissimilar in this situation. The only difference is that Targett hasn’t exactly made a name for himself at St Mary’s and he is playing second fiddle to Ryan Bertrand.
The Anfield faithful were unsure as to whether they would like a player like Targett, with some happy to take the youngster as back-up and the others not so sure.

Either way, whoever Liverpool sign this summer, they will play back-up to Robertson because the Scotsman has been one of the best performers in the league.
As for Targett, it would be a huge opportunity for him to take a huge step in his career because if he does move to Merseyside then he’ll sign for a team that just won the Champions League.
The Saints academy product earns £35k-a-week at his current club [Spotrac] and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the player.
