Liverpool fielded a number of youngsters on Wednesday night as they secured their passage to the next round of the EFL Cup.

Liverpool supporters on Twitter have been left baffled after Harry Kewell bizarrely criticised Harvey Elliott for his hairstyle by claiming that the youngster may think it gives him ‘power’.
On Wednesday night, 16-year-old Elliott was handed his senior Reds debut by Jurgen Klopp as they comfortably saw off MK Dons in the EFL Cup.
Elliott impressed on the night with his dazzling attacking display, as he was very unfortunate not to get on the score sheet because he hit the woodwork on two occasions.
But after the game, speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports Premier League (25/09/2019 at 10:40 pm), former Liverpool player Kewell shared one thing he didn’t like about the teenager.
“It’s his hairstyle,” Kewell told The Debate. “I can’t even say anything because I had the same kind of hairstyle.”
Presenter Geoff Shreeves then asked: “Come on, justify this, how could you possibly have a problem with how the young man has his haircut?”
After being shown an image of his pony-tailed hair during his playing days Kewell was then asked what the difference is: “He’s 16. He’s 16, so maybe he feels like that gives him power, like I did when I was younger.”

It is fair to say that Liverpool supporters simply can’t understand why Kewell would make such comments, especially given the fact that Elliott is only a youngster and his hairstyle choice has nothing to do with football.
Added with that, Kewell himself used to style his hair not too dissimilar to Elliott’s, who would have enjoyed his first senior outing in a Reds shirt.
At this moment in time, it’s perhaps his only chance of earning some minutes with Liverpool, as Klopp will now have some decisions to make in the next round because his team have been drawn up against Arsenal.
It would be a brave move by Klopp to field a lot of youngsters for that fixture, but Elliott, who stood out with his performance last night, will be hoping he can be a part of that squad.
