Liverpool’s Emre Can opened his account for Germany on Sunday – and what a way in which to do it.

It took him two years and 18 caps but Liverpool midfielder Emre Can finally broke his duck for Germany – and what a way to break it.
The reigning World champions rounded off a successful Group C qualification campaign in style by thumping Azerbaijan 5-1 at home on Sunday night.
Bizarrely, Joachim Low’s side were being held to a 1-1 draw at the break after Ramil Sheydaev cancelled out Leon Goretzka’s opener for the hosts.

But the flood gates opened in the second half and the Liverpool star added gloss to the scoreline with a long-range stunner with 10 minutes to go.
Perhaps there was a question mark over visiting goalkeeper Kamran Agayev – who plays for Czech side Mlada Boleslav – but the sheer power of Can’s strike might suggest that quite a few more famous keepers could have also struggled to stop it.
Nevertheless, Liverpool fans are loving it and some of them took a moment to urge the Premier League club to tie down the German midfielder – whose contract expires in the summer – to a new deal as soon as possible.
