The defensive axis of Ragnar Klavan and Dejan Lovren looks like an accident waiting to happen, and the lack of wisdom in sending the ostracised Mamadou Sakho to Crystal Palace on loan could be Jurgen Klopp’s biggest mistake.
Joel Matip has been unable to force his way back into Klopp’s preferred starting XI, while another credible option is being overlooked, talented teen Joe Gomez.

Gomez impressed early under Brendan Rodgers at full-back, but his best position is in the centre, and having recovered from and returned from from injury, the former Charlton kid can’t be much worse than the displays currently being put together by Liverpool’s defence.
With a top four place on the line, Liverpool’s defence remains their weak spot, and Jurgen Klopp has no excuse for not addressing it effectively in the past transfer window.
He might be able to redeem it, but to do so, fans are becoming convinced that Gomez is the only way he can do so…
