Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to comments from Mohamed Salah about his contract situation and reported interest from Barcelona.
Salah has said that he is happy at Liverpool, but the Egypt international forward has added that he is flattered by reported interest from Barcelona.
Barcelona now have Xavi as their new head coach.
Xavi is one of the greatest midfielders of all time.
Salah is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
Liverpool want to hand the former Chelsea star a new deal, but they are unwilling to meet the forward’s wage demands, according to The Mirror.
Mohamed Salah on Liverpool contract
The Mirror quotes Salah as saying: “I said it several times, if the decision is up to me, I want to stay in Liverpool. But the decision is in the hands of the management and they have to solve this issue. There is no problem but we have to reach an agreement for the contract. It’s up to them.
“Your financial value shows how much the club appreciates you and that they are ready to do anything for you to stay, but the decision itself is not based on those financial matters only.
“There are things like the ambition of the team and the coach and what he wants to do with the team and the players he wants. These are all important points when making the decision.”
Salah added about reported Barcelona interest: “I read what was said about Xavi’s interest to sign me.
“This is something that makes me happy that a team like Barcelona is interested in me, but I’m happy in Liverpool and we will see what happens in the future.
“At the moment, I prefer to stay in the Premier League as it’s the strongest league in the world.”

What are Liverpool fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, Liverpool fans are not happy with FSG about the contract situation of Salah.
Well, some of them anyway.
While some Liverpool fans want club owners FSG to pay Salah whatever he wants, others are worried that he will leave in the summer of 2022.
Now, Salah’s contract runs out in the summer of 2023.
However, if Liverpool are unable to convince the 29-year-old to sign a new deal in the coming months, then they could be forced to sell him at the end of the season.

After all, as things stand, Salah will become a free agent in the summer of 2023.
