Everton chief Brands’ heartwarming gesture to new Goodison Park signing Moise Kean was praised by both sets of Merseyside fans.

A number of Everton fans and Liverpool fans alike have taken to Twitter to praise Toffees director of football Marcel Brands for his heartwarming gesture to the family of new Blues forward Moise Kean.
The 19-year-old, widely regarded as one of the top prospects to come out of Italy, has joined the Goodison Park outfit from Serie A champions Juventus on a five-year deal.
Kean became Everton’s fifth summer signing and, according to BBC Sport, joined the Merseyside outfit for an initial fee of £25.1million that could rise to £27.5million.
On Monday, the Toffees published a video clip from Kean’s unveiling which shows Brands handing over a specially created Everton shirt for his mother.
“So, this is for you… I have a special present,” said Brands. “Because I know one person is, I think maybe the most important person in your life. And I know a little bit about you – and I wanted to give this present to you. Your first shirt with Mami.”
He then tells Kean’s mother: “We will take care of your son. And I hope to see you often.”
Here is what some Everton and Liverpool fans wrote on social media following the kind gesture:
Kean has scored eight times in 21 games for Juve, who he joined aged 10 (BBC Sport), but his final few months at the club were marred by racist abuse from the stands (Liverpool Echo).
Everton get their Premier League season under way on Saturday 10 August with a trip to Selhurst Park to face Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace, while their first home league match will be the following week against Watford.
