Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Ibrahima Konate against Newcastle United at Anfield.

Ibrahima Konate stars for Liverpool

Konate was in action for Liverpool in their Premier League game against Newcastle at home on Thursday evening.

With Virgil van Dijk not playing due to suspected coronavirus, Konate partnered Joel Matip at the heart of the Liverpool defence.

And he was brilliant, as Liverpool won 3-1.

Konate was a strong presence at the back for Liverpool and handled the threat of Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin well.

The 22-year-old read the game well, made some good challengers and was very comfortable at the back.

Liverpool fans impressed

As you can see from the tweets below, Liverpool fans were impressed by the display produced by Konate.

Well, some of them anyway.

Konate joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021.

Liverpool paid £36 million for 22-year-old (Sky Sports).

Now, the Frenchman is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup when everyone is fit and available.

However, Konate has shown positive signs when he has played this season.

The defender has shown that he has potential and can grow under manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
